This is only a starting point for researching your family history along Newfoundlands southcoast, to include Burgeo - La Polie, Hermitage, Fortune Bay and Burin. In tracing your ancestory along the southcoast you may find that many of the early settlers were brought here by various merchants from the West County in England. Pay a visit to John Symonds pages in NSW, Australia, John has posted many a quere for people from Newfoundland searching their roots in Englands, West Counties and has a very comprehensive quide to researching in Devon, Dorset, Cornwall and more. Well worth the visit.
Take a look at Theresa Turnbull's Dorset County Records Office Notes. Theresa has found her Newfoundland Roots in her 4g Uncle William SWEETAPPLE, of Gooseberry Island and Gloverton.

The sharing of GEDcom files may be one of the best tools for searching your roots on the internet. It is difficult to post all the names you are researching and allowing the free distribution of your file enables someone to view it and just perhaps they have a connection that could help you. I recommend that the use of a program like Brothers Keeper or Family Tree Maker be used to track your genealogy. They can be found as shareware programs.
